About shutterdial

Tech specs have little influence on what makes a subjectively good picture, because a camera is, fundamentally, simply a light-tight box with just a few variables to determine how the output is rendered. Mastering the perspective of a particular focal length; the influence of aperture on one's ability to layer a deep, contextual image or to create an ethereal one; the fundamentals of shutter speed and its ability to freeze or to convey motion; and, most importantly, finding the right light and capturing a serendipitous moment at the precise instant – these are the things that really matter. To that end, I hope you'll find inspiration on shutterdial, and discover new ways to get the most out of your camera.

Whether you're contemplating a purchase, deciding which lenses to bring on your next excursion, or just browsing, I hope you enjoy the site and wish you all the best on your photographic journey.
